The Pioneers competed in the annual Connecticut EV race last Friday. Since this was the team's fist race they were put in the "Novice" category. Out of eight other competitors in this category the Pioneers placed first! The two drivers, Dawson Giardino and Adam Rolston, raced the EV. They did their part extremely well. They were able to complete a total of 49 laps in 60 minutes as well as doing a phenomenal job conserving the battery.
The Pioneers would like to thank their amazing sponsors for making this dream of winning an electric vehicle race a reality! Keep checking the blog for videos and more pictures of the finished EV.

EV Pioneers The fabrication team took the EV for a test drive at the end of last Wednesday's meeting. Dawson Giardino said the vehicle was driving at half its potential speed. Check it out! Also don't forget to check out our interview with Rogers TV! The motor is installed and the EV is ready to race! Here are some pictures of the different parts of the electric vehicle done by Dawson Giardino, the fabrication team captain. The Pioneer's Ev has received a slick new paint job thanks to Mark, the power of Sideshift, a silver sponsor of the Pioneers.
Garett Reid also helped the team weld the frame so it meets the Waterloo EV Challenge rulebook. The motor will be installed Saturday, April 7. The car will be ready to race once the motor is installed! The Pioneers are nearly finished building the Electric Vehicle. According to Dawson Giardino, the Pioneer's fabrication team leader, the Electric Vehicle should be ready to drive in three weeks! This means our team will have three months to test the Electric Vehicle, and make it faster and more efficient.
